Born as Max Eisenhardt in Germany, and later taking the name Erik Lehnsherr, the man who would become Magneto has tragic origins. A Holocaust survivor, even after he escaped Auschwitz he still lost everything and everyone he loved, to people who hated and feared him for being different. A lifetime of being mistreated (both before and after his powers were discovered) would later shape his vindictive views towards humanity for the rest of his life.
I’ve crocheted a little Magneto, and he’s actually magnetic! He won’t be throwing a semi truck at anyone anytime soon, but he can help pick up paper clips and thumbtacks. Kinda difficult to do much more when you’re only 3 inches tall, but he’s still pretty powerful to me.
I’ll be bringing this little magnetic Magneto with me to San Diego Comic-Con, find him there and he’s yours to keep! Take good care of this little guy if you find him, he’s been through a lot and doesn’t take well to humans, but with time and understanding we can all work something out.
Also I’ve got a secret theme for my critters this year! Other than little Eleven, all of my critters that I’m making for San Diego Comic-Con 2026 will have something in common! So far I’ve got little Superman+Krypto, a 1-Up mushroom, and this little Magneto. Any guesses as to what they have in common? Otherwise, find little Magneto at SDCC 2026 and he’s yours to keep!
If you’re unfamiliar, since 2011 I’ve been crocheting little characters from pop culture and leaving them behind for strangers to find at San Diego Comic-Con (and occasionally on my travels) by leaving clues on social media! If you’ve never followed my SDCC drops before, here’s what you need to know:
- Follow me on Instagram, Threads, or Twitter for updates on new critters!
- When the time comes, follow my clues posted to social media (specific platform tbd when the time comes closer to SDCC) to track the drops, where I’ll post hints on where I’ve left them for a lucky finder!
- If you find a critter, let me know that you found it! Please check in if you find a critter. Each one is tagged with a card with my contact info, I just ask for two things if you find one: 1) Send me a photo of your new friend, and 2) Let me know where the critter’s new home will be so I can add it to my map! I do this knowing that there’s a potential that anyone could swipe the critter and never get back to me on it, but it doesn’t make it any less disheartening when one goes missing.
No specific hints on where these little guys will be dropped, and I’ll drop them whenever the time and place feels right! Find one and it’s yours to keep! Happy hunting!
