The Hooker’s Going to Marfa!

It’s been a rough year. It’s been a nonstop flow of bad news, social conflict, cancellations left and right, and difficult decisions being made while trying to navigate a looming public health threat that doesn’t seem to stop anytime soon. With Comic-Con being cancelled and all the other frustrations and difficulties that came with the pandemic (wear your masks, people!), while other crafters embraced the extra time at home to spend on their hobbies, I flat out lost motivation for it. That being said, I’m finally going to do my first drop in a while, and it’ll be while I’m out on a road trip to Marfa, TX!

I’m heading out to Marfa on Dec. 1st and I’ll be hanging around the area and visiting some nearby state parks through Dec 5th, where I’ll be bringing this happy little cactus with me to drop off somewhere for a stranger to find! Hopefully it’ll bring some smiles to people while I have a nice and safe break from all the chaos, even if it’s just for a little while. It’s not lost on me that my timing is pretty terrible in planning this roadtrip (already bracing myself for closures in response to the post-Thanksgiving spikes in COVID-19 cases), but even if I arrive in Marfa and the whole town is shut down, at least there will still be plenty of outdoor activity for me to safely enjoy my time out there while getting away from the repetition of pandemic life for a bit!

If you’ve never followed my drops before, here’s what you need to know:

  1. Follow me on Instagram, facebook, or twitter to track my drops!
  2. Follow the hashtag #CRITTERDROP to filter out my tweets if you want to see the ones pertaining to the drops only.
  3. If you find the little cactus, let me know that you found it! Please, please, PLEASE check in if you find a critter. Each one is tagged with a card with my contact info. I just ask for two things if you find one: 1) Send me a photo of your new friend, and 2) Let me know where the critter’s new home will be so I can add it to my map! I do this knowing that there’s a potential that anyone could swipe the critter and never get back to me on it, but it doesn’t make it any less disheartening when one goes missing.

No specific hints on where the little cactus will be dropped, and I’ll drop it whenever the time and place feels right! Find it and it’s yours to keep! Mask up, be safe, and happy hunting!

If you want to join my hunt for this little cactus in Marfa, follow me on instagram, twitter or facebook to track my drops! I just ask for two things if you find a critter: 1) Send me a photo of your new friend! 2) Let me know where the little buddy’s new home will be! Good luck, and happy hunting!

Pick your social media poison and join the hunt!

  1. As usual, I love your critters! Hope you found a great place to drop it. It was really rough not having an in person SDCCi! the San Diego Blood Bank ran a nearly month long blood drive for Comic-Con which gathered up more blood donations than ever!
I haven’t been able to work/teach since March. There are no positions for jewelry/arts & crafts teachers when it’s so hard to teach the basic subjects. And all the craft fairs are canceled. I did get Pandemic Unemployment Assistance so we are not starving, just have to be careful.
Hope you are doing well & we can meet at the 2021 Comic-Con!
