State of the Hookerdom

It’s been a while, hasn’t it? Over a year, in fact. SDCC was canceled for two years in a row, and this blog sat mostly dead in that time. So what have I been up to?

Well, not much crocheting. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I didn’t have much motivation to crochet during the pandemic, but it became a great time to explore other things. I was already making my own cocktails at home for a little bit prior to the pandemic, but once things shut down then I REALLY doubled down on that home bartending thing. I started to take photos of my cocktails at home.

Which then led to me taking photos for a few bars and restaurants around town.

I even have a few photos featured on Imbibe!

Which then led me to start crossing the streams and doing cocktail and crochet pairings! I’ve now got a separate account for the boozy side of things, but I’ll occasionally cross-post between the accounts. You can follow the food/drink account here: @GeekyHookerEats.

I also traveled a bit here and there once I got vaccinated, didn’t do any drops, and had a great time enjoying hikes out at national parks, because that was the one thing that I could do that hadn’t changed one bit during the pandemic. The only difference I could find was that some parks were limiting entry, but I didn’t mind that one bit because it thinned out the crowds.

And of course the T-Rex invaded the parks, because that’s what I do.

So what’s next? Well, now that SDCC is back, it means critter drops are back too! I won’t have nearly as many critters as previous years, but stay tuned, I’ll still be keeping up with the tradition! I’m not sure how SDCC will look from here on out, and I don’t think it’ll ever be the same, but it’ll still be fun to go back to everyone’s favorite nerdy stomping grounds for the first time in two years. One way or another I’ll still be trucking along, and I hope you do too. See you all at SDCC this year!

  1. Looking forward to seeing you at SDCC! Stop by the Blood Drive Booth to say “Hi!” even if you don’t hace a critter to donate!
