COMIC-CON IS UPON US!! Which means the hunt will be starting soon! If you’re new here, welcome! I’m Cindy, and since 2011 I’ve been crocheting little characters to bring to San Diego Comic-Con and leave them behind for strangers to find by posting clues to social media, which later expanded to occasionally dropping them during my travels as well! I’m back for SDCC 2026, and I’ve got 10 drops that I’ll be doing, plus another 3 guest critters by Gina! Here are the critters that I’ll be bringing with me:
First up, a little Eleven, complete with wig and Eggo!
I’ll also have the universe’s best dog sitter Superman and a little Krypto:
Are you feeling a magnetic presence? You should, because I’ll have a little Magneto with me! (he’s actually magnetic!):
I’ll also have a little Doctor Doom with me:
Get a life! No, really, get a life with this 1-Up mushroom! And if you miss the drop for this little fungal friend, I’ve got a FREE pattern for the mushroom here!
Who needs AI when you’ve got the best robo-kitty assistant ever? Doraemon will be up for grabs, and if you don’t find him I’ve also got a FREE pattern for you to make one of your own!
Need to give someone a kick in the pants? This little girl can help! Chun Li will be out and about, ready to dish out some asskickings!
Speaking of asskickings, if you need to get some claws out, this little guy can be of assistance too. Find little Wolverine and he’s yours to keep!
What’s that obnoxious cackle you hear? Why it’s none other than Eternia’s greatest foe, Skeletor! He’ll be ready to drop all the unsettling facts before scurrying away.
And finally, a little Goku, ready to level up and blast your foes with a kamehameha!

Otherwise, here’s the general rules and guidelines for my drops:
- Follow me on Twitter to track my drops. Crochet drops will only be posted to Twitter, but I’ll also be posting my general SDCC shenanigans on Instagram and Threads! I’m much more active on Instagram and Threads when SDCC wraps up, so they’re worth a follow if you want to keep up with me long-term!
- Set up notifications your phone! This isn’t required, but it’ll help! Instructions on how to set this up can be found here.
- If you find a critter, let me know that you found it! Please check in if you find a critter! Each one is tagged with a card with my contact info, I just ask for two things if you find one: 1) Send me a photo of your new friend, and 2) Let me know where the critter’s new home will be so I can add it to my map! I do this knowing that there’s a potential that anyone could swipe the critter and never get back to me on it, but it doesn’t make it any less disheartening when one goes missing.
- Critters will be dropped individually. No pairs/groups of critters with the exception of Superman and Krypto.
Limit of 2 critters per finder please!Limit of 1 critter per finder please! I know there’s some power hunters out there, if you’ve already found one,keep it to one more andleave the rest for others to find! (UPDATED 7/20/26: I don’t have as many critters to go around this year, please keep it to ONE per finder!)
As for when and where the critters might be:
- No drops in the convention center. WAY too crowded, the critters would get lost in the shuffle. So no worries about trying to fish for one in the mad sea of geekiness.
- No badge? No problem! I make it a point to drop a large majority of my critters out in the Gaslamp Quarter! I’ve left little dudes in trees, in random flowerbeds outside of restaurants, etc. etc.
- No drops at night.
Drops will happen from Wednesday-Saturday. No drops on Sunday. Otherwise I try to evenly distribute how many are dropped per day throughout the course of the con, and I drop them whenever it’s convenient or if I happen to spot a good drop location!

Get ready for the hunt, and HAVE FUN. It’s Comic-Con, for pete’s sake. There’s always something awesome going on, so enjoy yourself. And while sleeping is optional, don’t forget to bathe.
