Unless otherwise noted, all crocheting is to be done in a continuous spiral.

Head:

Using spring green yarn:

Round 1: Sc 6 in a magic ring. {6}

Round 2: [Sc 2 in one stitch] 6 times. {12}

Round 3: [Sc 1, sc 2 in one stitch] 6 times. {18}

Round 4: [Sc 2, sc 2 in one stitch] 6 times. {24}

Round 5: [Sc 3, sc 2 in one stitch] 6 times. {30}

Round 6: Sc 30. {30}

Round 7: [Sc 4, sc 2 in one stitch] 6 times. {36}

Round 8: [Sc 4, dec 1] 6 times. {30}

Round 9: [Sc 3, dec 1] 6 times. {24}

Round 10: [Sc 2, dec 1] 6 times. {18}

Round 11: [Sc 1, dec 1] 6 times. {12}

Fasten off and tuck in the end. Insert eyes between rounds 6 and 7, approximately 3 stitches apart. Stuff head firmly with polyfil. Using black embroidery floss and an embroidery needle, sew on a mouth.

Hair:

Cut two lengths of green yarn, each approximately 3” long. Tie one strand to a stitch on each side of Mona’s head at round 5 to make two pigtails, either by threading a strand through to the midpoint and tying with a simple overhand knot, or folding a strand in half and tying on with a cowhitch knot.

Using a slicker brush, brush out the pigtails until fuzzy, and trim any excess length (pictured below example has the yarn tied on with a cowhitch knot)

Take two pink beads and secure to the base of a pigtail. Repeat on the other pigtail.

Body:

Starting with white yarn:

Round 1: Sc 6 in a magic ring. {6} 

Round 2: Sc 2 in one stitch 6 times. {12} 

Round 3: [Sc 1, sc 2 in one stitch] 6 times. {18} 

Round 4: [Sc 2, sc 2 in one stitch] 6 times. {24}

Round 5-6: Sc 24, changing to raspberry yarn in the last stitch of round 6. {24}

Round 7: Sc 24. {24}

Round 8: [Sc 2, dec 1] 6 times. {18}

Round 9: Sc18, changing to pink yarn in the last stitch. {18}

Round 10: [Sc 1, dec 1] 6 times. {12}

Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.

Skirt

Hold upside down and using raspberry yarn, stitch a chain of surface slip stitches between rounds 6 and 7, where the color changes between raspberry and white-colored yarn. Then, crocheting along the surface chain:

Round 1: [Sc 7, sc 2 in one stitch] 3 times. {27}

Round 2: [Sc 8, sc 2 in one stitch] 3 times. {30}

Fasten off and weave in the end. Stuff body firmly with polyfil.

Sew head to body.

Neckline:

Using pink yarn: Loosely ch 14, turn, hdc 12 across starting from 3rd ch from the hook. {12}

Sew onto neck.

Arms (make 2):

Starting with spring green yarn:

Round 1: Sc 6 in a magic ring, changing to pink yarn in the last stitch. {6}

Rounds 2-3: Sc 6. {6}

Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing. Sew arms to body.

Legs (make 2):

Using spring green yarn:

Round 1: Sc 6 in a magic ring. {6}

Rounds 2-4: Sc 6. {6}

Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing. Flatten the open end and sew closed with a whipstitch. Attach the legs between rounds 4 and 5 on the body.
