Alright, I’ve got another critter ready for SDCC 2019! I’ve maintained a strict “no Pokémon” policy since day one when it comes to my critters. I’ve made characters from numerous other video game, movie, and TV franchises over the years, but Pokémon is the one category that I steer clear from. It’s partially because I didn’t really grow up playing Pokémon so I don’t have the sentimental attachment to it, but it’s mostly because I know if I make just one Pokémon then people will ask me to make the whole damn Pokédex. There’s plenty of other crochet artists who make amazing Pokémon-related pieces, so I’m perfectly fine with sitting out in that category. That being said, this’ll be the closest you’ll see me come to breaking that rule.

I’ve made a different Deadpool every year since 2014, and when Pokémon Detective Pikachu came out, there were memes abound because Ryan Reynolds voiced Pikachu. I was having a hard time coming up with ideas for the 2019 edition of Deadpool, but once I saw all the memes involving Pikachu and Deadpool, well, it pretty much spoke for itself!
I still stubbornly refuse to make Pokémon, so instead of making a Pikachu dressed as Deadpool, I made a Deadpool dressed as Pikachu. SO IT STILL ADHERES TO MY RULE. Sort of. 🙂 I’ll concede just this one time because so many people had mentioned it that I couldn’t pass it up! He may not be able to throw out the thunder, but Deadpool-chu can probably still throw out a healthy dose of whoopass if needed.
