Crocheting a little Bevo brings a whole new meaning to HOOK ‘EM, doesn’t it? It’s the beloved mascot of my alma mater, the University of Texas! Fun fact: I spent my undergrad years at UT, but never graduated, so I jokingly tell people I’m a biochem dropout. I earned my professional degree at the University of Houston (go coogs!), but my years at UT carried so much more emotional weight for me. It’s where I learned more about myself, it’s where I had some humbling lessons by being around people with different life experiences, and it’s where I solidified a friendship from high school and met people who would become some of my closest friends in life. UH built my career, but UT built my character.
I first made a Bevo wayyyyy back in 2013, and it’s easily the most requested pattern I’ve had since I started crocheting. The thing is that I could only find some fragmented notes on how to make Bevo, so there was no pattern. Until now. I’ve had a little Bevo sitting on my shelf, and I’ve finally gotten around to putting together the pattern everyone’s been asking for!
