I’m Cindy, I live in Houston, TX, and since 2011 I’ve been crocheting little characters and leaving them behind for strangers to find by leaving photo clues on social media. I’m a healthcare professional by day, crochet ninja by night. I hope you’ll like it here!
When I’m not tormenting my friends and coworkers with dad jokes, you might find me sipping on a flat white at a local coffeeshop or enjoying a well-made Old Fashioned while I dream about my next travel destination. Sometimes I’ll bring little crocheted buddies with me to leave behind on my travels, like I did last year on trips to London and Banff, Canada!
I once went on two dates with a guy, and a year later he appeared on the Houston season of Married at First Sight. My friends joke that maybe I was the reason he went on the show, but I swear that wasn’t the case! (it was only two dates!) That was years ago, I’m now happily married to my wonderful husband, who thankfully has never been on reality TV.
I spent a few years doing food photography for some local bars and restaurants, and also had a brief stint as a food writer for a local food publication. I once wrote an article where I tried a bunch of pumpkin spice-flavored junk, and it went just as horribly as you think it would. I’d love to dive back into it again (food writing, not eating pumpkin spice-flavored junk!), maybe this will be the year I get back into it! Food-wise I’ll try just about anything once. I won’t necessarily like it, but I’ll try it. Unless it has raisins in it. Raisins only add sad, dehydrated misery to any dish they come into contact with. I’ll go to town on a plate of stinky tofu before I eat a bowl of raisins.
I love visiting indie bookshops, even though shamefully I haven’t been as much of a reader as I used to be. I’ve recently been trying to right that ship by making it a point to buy a book from an indie bookshop whenever I travel. Give me your book recs! Some of my recent favorites have been Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner and There There by Tommy Orange (even though the ending left me blindsided). Older reads that still stay with me are To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Bless Me, Ultima by Rudolfo Anaya, and just about anything by David Sedaris and Anthony Bourdain.
